About the course
Cultural identity, personal values, lived experiences, and social influences all shape how individuals understand and experience mental health. For behavioral health professionals, recognizing these factors is essential to providing effective, individualized care. While many cultural competency trainings focus on general awareness, this course takes a more practical approach by exploring how cultural differences influence everyday clinical decisions. Participants will examine cultural considerations in mental health assessment and diagnosis, communication across cultural differences, building therapeutic trust, adapting treatment approaches, and navigating situations where cultural or personal values differ between the clinician and client. Through realistic clinical scenarios and practical examples, this training emphasizes applying cultural humility and culturally responsive strategies in real-world behavioral health settings. Whether you're looking to strengthen your existing clinical skills or expand your understanding of culturally responsive care, this course provides practical tools you can apply directly to your work with clients.
